What to share legally?

The PirateBox was inspired by the copyleft movement and was created to support access to knowledge and the free exchange of ideas. It promotes the freedom to distribute and modify creative and scholarly works among community members. There are millions of non-proprietary works available today that are licensed using creative commons, copyleft or related free licenses. Below is a partial list of materials that PirateBoxers may wish to share on their boxes.

Free Privacy Software

Tor Browser Bundle for Linux/Mac/Windows.

TAILS live OS images.

PGP/GnuPG public key encryption programs for Mac/Windows, like GPGTools and Gpg4Win (Linux systems come with GPG preinstalled).

Note: If you decide to host these files on your PirateBox, please keep them up-to-date with the latest monthly versions for security reasons (especially Tor and TAILS) due to browser exploits. Also consider hosting the corresponding GPG signature files on the PirateBox as well (and verifying them if you know how to do so).

Books
